Trip Description
Day 1: Start hiking between vineyards, olive trees, and holm oaks. On the way, discovery of the mysterious sources of the Buèges. Ascent of the Pontel valley in the shade of Salzmann pines. Night in a stopover gite. Dist: 10 km. + 450 m. 4 h. Day 2: Ascent of Pic Saint Baudille, magnificent panorama over the Languedoc. Access to Larzac, then to the typically Caussenard village of La Vacquerie. Night in a guest house. Dist: 14 Km. + 300 m. 5 h. Day 3: The great steppes of the Larzac plateau, between hills, sinkholes (dolines), and large plains. Night in the small village of St Maurice in a guest house. Dist: 11 km. + 100 m. 4 h. Day 4: Exceptional view of the Vis canyon with the Aigoual massif in the background. Crossing the Séranne ridge, then magnificent descent into the Buèges valley, via ancient transhumance paths. Return to "A la Ser’ane", swimming possible. Dist: 14 km. +400 m. 5 h. Bivouac version, possible on this circuit.
